I was actually surprised to hear that because I recalled that printers in the 1980s other than PC ones were usually tiny daisy wheel ones.I had a daisy wheel printer. Massive thing, beautifully made, with a chrome steel frame; used tractor feed paper, and produced very nice printed output. But is was as noisy as a machine gun! So I installed it in the front porch - which we never used anyway - and drilled a hole through the wall for power and the RS232 data cable.
