It isn't meant to be a full laptop experience but the Raspberry Pi 5
running the Debian derived Raspberry Pi OS shows what is possible. It has
Chromium or Firefox for broswers, a modified LXDE DE and move importantly
for me, VS Code. It has Vim but not Gvim. I think that has to do with the
Gtk version. People have put other distros on as well.
