Post your activities inside a physics forum at least. In relativity group there are a few physicists still lurking. You may get surprised how much they may know about Linux and their own systems. You may find your like-minded people there.
And there are other physics forums with moderators. Any genuine work in linux might be of interest in those forums as well, so they're not going to prevent you from posting to those groups.
Physicists' tools do include serious uses of computers and suitable operating systems. Try those groups, not this shit-packed place, COLA.
I don't know about other newsreaders, but those who use Thunderbird can exchange direct messages too via "chat" feature of Thunderbird. Only the all mighty fucking Penis X Pope of Chattanooga Las Vegas know how much bullshit and female blabber these COLA idiots are conducting via that route alone!
