I had a similar problem and used a Panda USB wifi dongle to get the
Broadcom driver in Lubuntu. The Panda is handy to have around.
I think the Broadcom driver is actually on the Linux Mint live USB, but
apparently you have to know how to find it. I think it worked under the Live
USB but not when it was installed. (Mine was connected to the Ethernet, so
it was easy to download the driver.)
