Just for the heck of it, I'll close the lid on this laptop when I'm done
with work today. It will be neat to see whether the machine wakes from
its long sleep when I come back tomorrow. It's a standard Ubuntu 24.04
install on an Intel HD 6000. If it works, I'll be happy to curse NVIDIA
yet again.
It's been a while so I just checked. The Windows 11 laptop came up and the
Fedora 42 terminal was still active. I have it set to hibernate when the
lid is closed. For my use the 10 seconds or so to come out of hibernation
is perfectly acceptable. It is an AMD Ryzen 7 with the integrated Radeon
graphics so no Nvidia involved.
Well, I closed the lid on this MacBook Air when I left work yesterday at
3:40pm and lifted this morning at 8am to see if suspend works as it
should in Ubuntu 24.04. Happily, it works as it should. I think that
this is the first time Ubuntu has ever worked perfectly for me.
