I might have to (eventually) move to the Debian-based version of Linux Mint.
Although I don't think Linux Mint is moving to Rust... not yet anyway.
 
Ubuntu has already slowed itself down with all the Snaps. If their
performance takes another hit by using Rust then there's even less reason to
use Ubuntu — especially on older equipment like mine.

We'll see. I'm also concerned about compatibility. I don't know what the
situation is with Wayland now, but a couple years ago they were saying you
would have to make changes to some of the applications you use because they
weren't compatible with Wayland. I don't buy into that. In my opinion it's
up to Wayland to build in compatibility with established applications, not
_vice versa_.

When I was messing around with ZeroTier I had to install some Rust stuff to
get it to work correctly. I think that's about my only real interaction with
Rust so far. (It's probably in the background for other stuff and I just
don't know it.)
