It's not a matter of what they *should* do, it's a matter of choosing
something different that better fits your needs. If Fedora jettisons
X11, I'll jettison Fedora. It's a matter of choice. With Linux you *can*
choose what you prefer (unlike Windows or Macs).

The KDE spin has been Wayland for some time. xclock works so maybe they
still have XWayland. Ubuntu is also Wayland. For that matter 'loginctl
show-session 1' on the RPi running Raspberry Pi OS also shows wayland for
the type.

The only possible problem I've seen was QGIS popped a warning that some
dialogs might not render correctly but that's been fixed for a long time.
It's not that Fedora has chosen to default to Wayland that bothers me, it's
that, if the vote goes "their" way (whoever "they" are), they'll take away
the choice to use X11 when using Fedora. That's fine. I don't have to use
with Fedora (and I won't if they do this). As for Wayland, I've run into a
few issues with it. I could probably work around them but I don't see why
that should be necessary. I'm definitely not going to move to KDE for a
better Wayland experience.
It's not that big of a deal, I just like choice and making my own decisions.
So far Linux Mint, Debian and even Ubuntu still either default to or let me
choose X11. (So far, even Fedora let's me choose X11, which I do.)
