The last Tom Hanks movie I saw was "Sully" (because my wife's father piloted
his own plane and my wife wanted to see it). I've heard his voice in a
couple Toy Stories and Cars movies but I think the last Tom Hanks movie I
watched of my volition was "Catch Me If You Can." I hated "Cast Away," so I
think that kind of turned me away from Tom Hanks' movies. I liked his
earlier, comedy stuff, a couple of his romantic comedies (with Meg Ryan) and
"Green Mile." Also "Joe Vs the Volcano."

Not that Tom Hanks is a bad actor. And his choice of music in his movies is
almost always very good (at least in the movies I've seen). But he's another
comedic actor who, apparently, wanted to be taken "seriously" so, in my
opinion, he picks morose movies. (Kind of like Bill Murray in later acting
career.) I'm guessing it's a personal thing for me, but some of these actors
seem to overdo it. I expected more out of "Forrest Gump" (because of the
hype) than what it delivered. That's probably on me for expecting too much,
I might like it more if I watched it again. (I really don't want to,
though.)

Different tastes, I guess.
