I think that was more common in the 90s. Some bosnians & co came to sweden and started lower level maffia gangs, but they never managed to grow to the size and power as the arabian maffia.
I would imagine that small slivers still exist and live well off selling weapons to the arabians. I've heard the majority of weapons come from the balkans and are smuggled into sweden by boat and car.

This is a correct statement. I think Larsson was very communist. I think most cultural workers in sweden are communist. It helps getting government support. Also the culture of culture workers is very leftist. I don't know why. I've met _one_ artist in my life who was centrist, or almost a-political, and one artist was a friend of my mother and although being left, she didn't really care that much about it. My mother, being very right and conservative and her artist friend managed to stay friends for decades.
