I think many politicians are corrupt, first and foremost, political allegiance is a secondary concern. They will align with the political grouping most likely to enable them to achieve influence. Influence they can then exploit for personal enrichment.
I don't think anyone really suggests the EU aren't corrupt.
Unlike TNP, I wanted the UK to remain in the EU, but that was because I thought it beneficial for the UK (and the rest of the EU), not because I believed EU politicians weren't corrupt.
