A lot, no doubt. Compared to the actual number-crunching
that does the actual work, I wouldn't be surprised if it
was in the range of 80 to 90 percent.
I like to do that background number-crunching, and leave
the pretty GUIs to someone else. The last few generations
of CPUs have enabled me to make my stuff run _really_ quickly.
If your cpu is rendering static data, it isnt doing much at all. Sitting in a pause loop waiting for something to happen.
Playing videos and 3D games is what chews mine. Transcoding videos is dreadful.
All 4 cores panting for breath.
Running the window shit isn't that big a deal these days - and hasnt been since Pentiums IIRC
