“Science” is a process; “scientific knowledge” is the product of that
process.
Every human culture has a body of knowledge that it passes down through
the generations. But how that knowledge was acquired was (mostly) never
formalized. The idea of the acquisition of knowledge as a discipline that
you get trained in, is very much what makes up “science”.
