At one company I worked for my lead tech asked if we would support a
women's softball team. No problem. We'd spring for the uniforms,
equipment, field fees, and so forth. The rub was they also wanted us to
run the team.

We had the same problem with lead positions. The girls (okay, shoot me)
were competent and hardworking but very few wanted to assume any sort of
authority even for more bucks in their pay envelope.
