I am trying to build up to one arm pullups, but the joints and tendons are unwilling. My only strategy is to take it slow, and not to force things. Hopefully I will build up some tolerance over time.

Is that because you only have one arm, or because you want to look super hench. My nieces husband is like that. He broke his arm, arm wrestling, all muscle no bone. It's not sensible.
Haha no. Several reasons. The first, is that my wife trains hard to look her best for me, so I think it is only fair that I take care of myself for my health and looks for her.
The second reason is that I don't really like training, so in order to keep myself motivated, I try to find things I cannot yet do, and train in order to achieve them. That way I have a measure of progress, which keeps me motivated.
I'd say that those are probably the two reasons, and taking care of myself because of my wife is the strongest reason.
