I don't know why but it always seemed to me like shoveling shit against
the tide. It wasn't difficult, just tedious. I liken it to driving in
flatland where the horizon is limited by the curvature of the earth. You
can see that grain elevator 90 miles away, everything between you and it,
and know it's going to be basically the same view for an hour or two.
