as a gender-neutral third-person _singular_ pronoun.  Arrghh...
Obviously there isn't a single competent system designer
among them.  If we need such a pronoun (and I'm not disputing
that we do), it's time for something brand new.  I've heard
someone suggest "xie", with "xis" as the possessive and "xir"
or "xim" as an object.  (You could use "xir" for direct object
and "xim" for indirect object, but that's just a flashback to
German grammar classes from years ago.  Nominative, genitive,
dative, accusative...)

   Screw that. Trump just declared that men are men
   and women are women and there's NO halfway, much
   less "just because you SAY".
   Americans DO understand the plural.
   What they do NOT understand anymore is the use
   of irregular verbs. "Pleaded" instead of "pled".
   "Runned" instead of "ran". It's annoying.
