   "English" is a 'pigeon' ... a glomming-together of
   languages from everybody who ever invaded or went
   to war with it.
   That makes it weird and difficult - but also very
   versatile.
   There was a time in the 80s where the "Pure French"
   movement insisted on local lang for everything. You
   may have to look it up, but their term for "satellite"
   was like a full sentence long  :-)
