I put Lubuntu on an old netbook, It had originally used LXDE but switched
to LXQt because of LXDE problems. Good thing they both start with 'L'. My
Debian box is XFCE. My preference is KDE but I can live with almost any
DE.

It is in a strange niche. I bought the Canakit  which has a heat sink,
fan, and a heavier power supply. It doesn't run super hot but the fan
isn't for decoration only. I bought a 3B+ last week for another project
and it's a lot less hungry. Works fine although I went with the legacy
Bullseye version rather than Bookworm. My Debian box is still Bullseye
too.

   I just stopped using Ubuntu some years ago - it kept, pointlessly,
   deviating from Deb in too many ways ... plus Canonical was relentless
   promoting its 'cloud' junk (hard to install without it). Mostly these
   days I'm happy with MX (but DID have to use MX-AHS on that new n150
   mini-box I bought).

The Ubuntu wasn't a planned thing. My original intent was to put Kubuntu
on the Beelink SER4 but I had problems with the iso. I had a Ubuntu iso
handy and it worked. I don't customize a DE or change anything beyond the
left handed mouse so like I said I can live with almost anything as long
as I can find the apps I use.  I do use Konsole on Ubuntu rather than
gnome-terminal.
