IIRC i686 (and the older stuff like i386 too) are NOT supported by
Fedora anymore.
Even if you have an x86_64 compatible processor (almost all from the
last 20 years are), but run an 32 bit guest system (e.g. i686), you
cannot run an x86_64 (amd64) OS in a virtual machine.
At a given point my processor (early pentium IIRC) was 64 bit but could only run a 32 bit VB
This could be your issue
