Can anyone offer recommendations?

For a thesaurus I use WordNet:
    https://wordnet.princeton.edu/
which there is a build for Slackware:
        https://slackbuilds.org/repository

For a dictionary I use:
    spell(1), look(1), ispell or aspell
    these comes with Slackware

I try and avoid WEB solutions for these items.  I am sure
these are available in other distros.
