The only thing I can remember ever using that needed Hyper-V is WSL2, and you're right, I'm not currently actually using the two together, as I'm running VirtualBox on a Linux system.
They can be used together on Windows, but VirtualBox has to run in its software virtualization mode.

I haven't actually tried it recently. I used to run VirtualBox on a Windows 10 system with WSL (the first version).
