There is still a UUCP network. It runs over the internet rather than
the phone system but it runs the UUCP protocol.
Motivated by that comment, I just had a quick look and discovered
that, 40 years on, FidoNet is still in use...
I know of a number of old BBSes that still run on the INTERNET
today running on things like Tandy Color Computers. There is
still a lot of interest in old "Legacy" stuff. :-)
