 That's what we used to release new versions of applications from test
to production. Using DECnet, FAL, and proxies... I also envisaged to
get a DFS setup in place, but got retired before I could achieve that.

Nah, we found easier than that. Copy between nodes only allowed for
specific accounts, and those accounts are audited by System Detective.
That's an absolutely superb product.
