 diff()1 and patch(1) are pretty fundamental tools for open-source
collaboration. They should be part of some core installation package,
like Python.

You can do diff as a (long) one liner in Python.

 The newest version appears to be 3.8. Checking the upstream site

old.

Feel free to port latest.
But I suspect that 3.8 will do fine for most.
