As of Christmas 2024, only 34% of Steam owners of Endless Space have played 10 turns. There goes $29.99. I was giving it another chance to no effect.
There's too many "Endless" games. I have Dungeon of the Endless which wasn't for me, though I gave it a proper go at 30 hours.
I also have Endless Legend which I've never even given a try.
Then I have Endless Sky which isn't part of the Endless(TM) franchise, which I don't remember at all and played for 89 minutes.
Then I always get confused between Endless Space and Everspace, I don't even own Endless Space, but loved Everspace. Everspace 2 not so much, though I intend to give it a 2nd try when the mood strikes me. E2 just has too much puzzles and too much rather annoying long still cartoon drawing exposition movies*. It also feels like there's no challenge, but maybe I just didn't get far enough along.
* know there's a name for the movies in games, but I'm getting old, can't remember the name of it, and my google-fu is failing me. I keep thinking quick-time events but that's when you have like a movie where you have to push a button at the right time which I don't hate as much.
