I suppose it was only a matter of time.
But "Fallout 2" is getting an (unofficial) make-over, being ported en
toto to the "Fallout 4" engine, in Project Aryo.

It's still in early production, and we'll have to see if this project
actually ever finishes, but even at this early stage it looks
promising. The original "Fallout 2" looks and feels old, and its
isometric-ish viewpoint is one of the biggest things keeping me from
going back and re-playing the game.
How the developers will handle the different mechanics (not least of
which is that "Fallout 2" was a turn-based game where you had an
entire party of NPCs backing you up). Turning the game into one where
you are largely running around solo will have a significant impact on
the adventure's feel.
And, of course, there is always the question of whether or not the IP
holders (Microsoft ne Bethesda ne Interplay) will even allow the
project to run to completion.
Still, odder things have happened, and I'd probably give the mod a
chance if it does finish.
