For what it's worth, the remasters have been released and if you own
the original games (on Steam, at least) you get the 'enhanced'
versions for free (they are in addition to the originals, not
replacements, so now you have double the amount of Stalker in your
library).

Initial reviews are not very positive; most are pointing out the
graphic enhancements do not greatly enhance the visuals and in many
cases make the game look worse. Bugs and crashes are common, and
optimization seems non-existent. Some reports indicate that there was
some censoring of the original game too, scrubbing a lot of the
Russian and Soviet culture out of the game. That is understandable
given the current despicable actions of the Russians upon the
Ukrainians --I get why they might not want Russians in Ukraine's most
famous video game-- but it changes the tone of the game. I'm generally
not a fan of censorship and not a fan of it here, even if I fully
comprehend why its so desirable to the devs.

It's nice that they gave this 'legendary' edition to existing users,
but the general opinion is: skip the enhanced version and play the
original with mods. It's definitely not worth /buying/.
