Who knows if this is a useful thread for anybody, but I'm gonna post
it anyway. Here are (some of) the upcoming games that are expected to
release in the next month. Are any of them on your radar?
------------------
* Among Us 3D (May 6)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3168600/Among_Us_3D/ It's the party-game "Among Us", except now with a
3D engine instead of top-down isometric. Personally,
I think the more limited viewpoint works against the
game (and that "Among Us" itself is sort of played out)
but if you want more of the game, well... here it is
* Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (May 16)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2400430/Capcom_Fighting_Collection_2/ Bundling up and reselling you old games that you probably
already own is a lot easier (and profitable) than creating
new games, and nobody knows this better than Capcom.
* Deck of Haunts (May 7)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3179730/Deck_of_Haunts/ Looks sort of like "Dungeon Master" except this time
you're building up a haunted house. Looked intriguing
until I saw those terrifying words: deckbuilding".
* Deliver At All Costs (May 22)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1880610/Deliver_At_All_Costs/ Amazon delivery except in a GTA world. Get the package
where it needs to be... at all costs.
* Disney Illusion Island (May 30)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2054660/Disney_Illusion_Island_Starring_Mickey__Friends/ A Mickey-Mouse platformer. Can't say I like its art-style.
* Doom: The Dark Ages (May 15)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3017860/DOOM_The_Dark_Ages/ The next game in the Doom saga. If you're familiar with
the last two Doom games, you should know what to expect...
except now with what every Doom games needs, even more lore.
* Duck Detective: The Secret Salami (May 22)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2637990/Duck_Detective_The_Secret_Salami/ You're a detective who is also a duck. Oddball adventure
game. Looks cute.
* Elden Ring: Nightreign (May 30)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2622380/ELDEN_RING_NIGHTREIGN/ More Elden Ring. If you loved the first, you'll dig
this stand-alone adventure. If not, keep looking.
* Frog Legs (PC) - May 19
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1734110/Frog_Legs/ Weird indie game that mixes classic arcade games with
a horror setting. Doesn't look like something I'd enjoy,
but ten points for trying something new.
* Labyrinth of the Demon King
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1804010/Labyrinth_Of_The_Demon_King/ A game so ugly it actually starts too look somewhat good,
Labyrinth is a dungeon crawler set in feudal Japan. Honestly,
I'm sort of intrigued by this one. It has a sort of "Dark
Souls" vibe to it (although I've no idea if it's actually
a souls-like in gameplay)
* Lynked: Banner of the Spark (May 22)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3159570/Lynked_Banner_of_the_Spark/ Action-RPG. Wander the world finding parts for your robots
then use them to defend your hometown from waves of
enemies. It's a game, I guess.
* Metal Eden (May 6)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/990380/METAL_EDEN/ A rather unexciting-looking sci-fi FPS whose
primary differentiation seems to be that it's so
much faster-paced than any others. I guess if you
like the hyper-kinetic action of Quake3 this might
appeal.
* Monster Train 2 (May 21)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2742830/Monster_Train_2/It's a deckbuilder. I lose all interest.
* Out of Sight (May 22)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2526310/Out_of_Sight/ A third-person action/adventure where you guide a blind
girl around a haunted mansion. The gimmick is that you
can only 'see' through the eyes of your teddy-bear (which
you can carry and put down wherever). Meh.
* Revenge of the Savage Planet (May 8)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2787320/Revenge_of_the_Savage_Planet/ Third person action/explorer where you wander across alien
worlds. Probably not too bad, but nothing about it screams
'play me!'
* Roadcraft (May 20)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2104890/RoadCraft/ Play with giant construction vehicles! Sort of a "Mudrunner"
with bulldozers.
* Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (May 30)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2864560/Rune_Factory_Guardians_of_Azuma/ A colorful JRPG. Not my style.
* Shotgun Cop Man (May 1)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2966850/Shotgun_Cop_Man/ Looks like a 'trying too hard to be edgy' platformer/
shooter; a sort of "Meatboy" with guns and uglier
graphics
* Siegecaster (May 6)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3138350/Siegecaster/ A "siege defense game" (e.g., tower defense except
on a bigger scale). Doesn't look all that intriguing.
* Survival Machine (PC) - May 7
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1601330/Survival_Machine/ Seems to be a cross between "Satisfactory", zombie
games, and "Mortal Engines"; defend your mobile factory
from zombie hordes.
* Sonic Rumble (May 8)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2951690/Sonic_Rumble/ A free-to-play Sonic the Hedgehog game being
simultaneously dropped on PC and mobile. Nothing about
this one screams quality.
* Tennis Manager 25 (May 15)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3549220/Tennis_Manager_25/ I never got the appeal of sports-management games, but
here's another one. Guess what sport you're managing this
time?
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown (May 22)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3229100/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_Tactical_Takedown/ Sort of a "Hitman Go" puzzle/strategy style game
except with TMNT.
* Worshippers of Cthulhu (PC) - May 22
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2807150/Worshippers_of_Cthulhu/ Why fight the ancient evil when you can be on their side?
Lead a cult of Cthulhu worshippers instead! A city-builder
with a twist. Don't expect a happy ending. ;-)
------------------
None of these scream 'rush out and buy me!' but a few caught my eye
(Roadcraft, Doom: Dark Ages, Labyrinth of the Demon King, Deliver at
All Costs, Worshippers of Cthulhu). If ever these games make their way
into my library, those are the ones I'll most likely actually play.
The rest are just Number-fodder.
Any of the above strike your fancy? Did I miss some games you think we
should be aware of?
