Hey! It's that day again! You know the one! The day where we get free
games. From that place. I think they call it Thursday. The day, I
mean. Not the place. That's called something different. I wonder
what's on tap this week?
* Circus Electrique
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/circus-electrique This is a weird one: it's got RPG mechanics, adventure
game structure, deck-building, and aspects of a management
sim all rolled into one, and then topped with a steampunk
and horror aesthetic. Is it good? I've no idea. I'm not sure
I'll ever find out either; it just feels too 'all-over-the-
place', too experimental to make me want to rush out and
play it. It's probably fine but I'll let others take the
lead on this one.
* Firestone
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/firestone-online-idle-rpg-bfd04b The game describes itself as an 'online Idle RPG' and
it has pop-ups asking players to rate the game. That's all I
need to know. No thank you. This is mobile-style crap that
has no place on PCs. I don't want it. Not even free.
Well... sometimes the games are good, and sometimes they're not. It
should be fairly obvious which direction I think this week's games
lean towards. But the good thing about Epic's freebies is that even if
you don't like one week's offerings, all you have to do is wait seven
days and there will be something new to look forward to.
