I'm not sure if I'm jealous or not.- At the time I didn't. Just one time, much later, I believe there were 2400 ones out at the time I got the acoustic one at a swap meet, which was 300 baud Which equates to 30 characters per second... on a good connection. Connecting to a BBS for the first time was magical. Even if it was slow as molasses.
I never had an accoustical coupler but -at the time- it seemed the
height of technology. In fact, when I finally purchased a modem for my
8-bit, the lack of a coupler was a disappointment. Surely this
non-destinct slab of off-white plastic was an inferior brand! If only
had I one that mated directly with my phone, the experience and speeds
must be better, right?
