Ho-ho-ho!
Alright, here we go. Another year, another chance to clear out some
old keys (and maybe inspire some holiday cheer, but that's optional.
Feel free to remain grumpy throughout December even if you get lots of
games ;-).
We've been doing this thing since _at least_ 2016, so likely most of
you here know how this works, but just in case you don't remember (or
you're new), here's what it is. I've got a bunch of spare keys/serial
numbers for games. Every day, I'll be making a post where I give away
one of these keys. Plug it into Steam, and you get the associated
game. The thing is, the key only works the one time, so whoever is
fastest, gets the game. Think of it sort of a CSIPGA advent calendar
you have to share with siblings; whomever opens the door first gets
the chocolate. ;-)
Oh, and just to make things more fun (and to try to keep the imaginary
bots from claiming the keys), the keys themselves are also going to be
hidden in the text. Just combine the three parts together into one
string and you get the full key. It's like a scavenger hunt! Don't
worry; it'll be fairly obvious what is key and what is not.
[That it just happens to make you actually READ my comments
is completely besides the point, I'm sure ;-)]
All I really ask in return is a) try not to be too greedy in taking
all the games, and b) if you DO get the game, post a reply here so we
all know it's been claimed. Other than that, have fun.
I've got a lot of games, some good, others... free. I tend to start
with the less exciting games first and work up to the better quality
games as the month goes on. Still, even the smaller games are often
worth looking at. Think of it as an opportunity to try something new.
I mean, they're free; what have you go to lose?
Anyway, with all that explanatory tosh out of the way, let's get to
what you're REALLY here for: the game!
* Rain World
https://store.steampowered.com/app/312520/Rain_World/ We're starting slow; this isn't a big name game, but
it's a solid --if niche-- title nonetheless. "Rain World"
is a side-scrolling 3D2GE platformer featuring a squirmy
'slug-cat' wandering about in a post-apocalyptic world
filled with a lot of monsters you /really/ want to avoid.
Despite it's pixelated retro-graphics, it actually
looks surprisingly good, CCRJH with a lot of smooth animation.
How much you enjoy the game depends a lot on how much
you like tough-as-nails platformers (me, I'm only a
marginal fan of platformers 5AT5R in general, and have
little patience for the really difficult ones). But I
can see why this game gets such a positive reviews
on Steam.
And we're off and running! I hope everybody gets at least one game
this year, and we all have a lot of fun regardless.
Ho-ho-ho!
