System Shock:  The non-stop spiders and monkies
Doom Eternal : The jumping, and jumpling puzzles - that will make me
stop playing a game immediately (although the new one hasn't ticked me
off yet - I am not taking it seriously just playing it on easy and
shooting stuff which is enough fun for now)

The lack of save game slots and quick saves, and only checkpoints.

Having to "cheat" by having to farm stuff in order to proceed and
level up. I have no idea how I lasted so long with Elden Ring but I am
sure I almost finished it but am not going back to try and finish it.
Which leads me to:

Hard and almost impossible boss fights, or boss fights to begin with!

And now, I have just about had it with Oblivian Remastered.  Do you
know what is going to make me quit playing it (I love it!)?

The seemingly non-stop lockpicking puzzles! I have just about had it
with that!

Oh - any stupid and hard puzzles in a game which forces me to
constantly look up cheats on the internet will make me stop playing a
game real quick now at my age!
>
A lot of these seem to break down to "I hate repetition", as in,
"don't make me keep replaying the same stuff over and over again."
Whether it's a reuse of a mechanic or monster (lock-picking, killer
space monkeys) or instant-death pits that make platforming a chore.

Which I can totally get behind. It's one of the more frustrating parts
of gaming for me, largely because I'm playing for the experience more
than the challenge. I want to explore strange new worlds, see new
vistas, meet (and kill!) new critters, and do new things. Being forced
to do the same thing -especially if it's the same exact challenge-
over and over again bores me.

I don't tend to quit a game because of it (just because I make effort
to finish every game I start) but that sort of thing will definitely
result in a more snarky take in my end-of-month round-ups ;-)

"Doesn't respect your time." is how the kids say it.

I'm getting old, and if I'm not enjoying it because it's repetitive or a
chore, I might suffer through a bit, but my tolerance is way less than
it was when I was younger.  Though that may be more there wasn't as many
games and my budget for them was nearly non-existent when I was younger.

Some things I don't mind though. Really hard bosses, based on my
original plays of DS3 and Bloodborne that's somewhere up in the 70
tries, at least if I can vary loadouts, tacics, etc.  Over 100 (Midir)
is too much.  I find my tolerance much lower in games where you don't
really have any choice, like just having a gun and weapon.  That's one
reason I don't like the first bosses especially of any of the souls
games that you can't progress without defeating them.  You haven't built
up any arsenal to try anything different, can't level up, etc.

Inventory management with lots of junk really grates on me now - BG3 is
horrible with this getting worse and worse to the point it was too much
in act 3.  I fully intend to go back and play again if there's a
de-junkifier or inventory mod.

Nightreign somehow manages to be both boring and heartpounding at the
same time.  The 45 minutes of leveling up and getting equipment every
time you attempt a boss with time pressure, but really the areas and
mobs are nearly the same every single time.  Maybe I just don't like
roguelites like that any more, or maybe I never really did and just a
few really good ones overcame that.

Then of course there's the random or super rare drops in games like
Borderlands, Diablo, where you keep fighting the same mobs/bosses over
and over trying to get that perfect drop, or even just a good one.  I've
had an assfull of that, and don't have the patience anymore.

Those are some more things that bug me to lol!  I am going to add
crafting to my list to :-)
Crafting, ugh.  Yeah that goes on my list too.  I'm not quite as against it as I mostly don't mind what little of it is in the souls games, and there's at leas some other game it was kind of fun in. The bad part is more about the farming part of crafting, which in general isn't too bad in souls.  I remember absolutely hating it in some other games.
