just if anyone is interested, a fan remake of the classic 8 bit title
Rescue on Fractalus. Back then the game was groundbreaking, but by
modern standards it is very simplistic, nevertheless probably worth
downloading, the game is fun for a short period of time and the remake
definitely a work of love.

This was the first LucasArts (Lucasfilm Games back then) title I ever
played.

I never owned this one in the 8-bit days, and it never made its way to
PC. I only played it through emulation. Aside from the concept (it's a
sort of a first-person "Lunar Lander" crossed with Choplifter's rescue
mechanic) I didn't actually find the game that impressive, even
accounting for its age.

All that said, the updated version is an honest attempt at recapturing
the original with updated visuals and even if the gameplay still
leaves me a bit cool, it's an admirable recreation.

It should be noted this is an unofficial fan-made port/remake (and
given that LucasArt properties are now owned by litigious Disney, if
you are interested, you'd better grab it sooner rather than later
because odds are a cease-n-desist is already on its way ;-)

I wonder if the remake has the jump-scare aliens latching onto your
ship?
