Another month, another chance to bulk up the video game library with 8
new games. This is the first month of HumbleChoice's newer, higher
price... will their selection justify the increased cost? Let's find
out.
---------
* Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2186680/Warhammer_40000_Rogue_Trader/ It's more Warhammer, except instead of the usual shooters
or strategy game, this time around it's a role-playing game.
It's not quite as deep an RPG as Baldurs Gate, and functionally,
with its tactical combat, it's probably closer to XCOM, but at
least your not restricted to the boring Space Marines for once.
My only complaint is that, like all Warhammer games, there's
to much DLC. Otherwise, not bad.
* Cat Quest II
https://store.steampowered.com/app/914710/Cat_Quest_II/ A top-down action-RPG; think classic Zelda except with a
cat-theme. Beyond that, it's not exceptional. Not bad, and if
you enjoy the genre you'll probably like this one, but the
cat-thing is really the only thing that differentiates it from
other games of its ilk.
* Death's Door
https://store.steampowered.com/app/894020/Deaths_Door/ A top-down action platformer with puzzle- and rogue-like
aspects. Oh, also you are a crow reaping souls. There are
some complaints about the lack of variety in the game resulting
in it becoming a bit tedious later on, but the gameplay is
reportedly solid enough. Might be worth a look.
* Daemon X Machina
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1167450/DAEMON_X_MACHINA/ Giant mech! Giant mech! This should be a slam dunk, except
the reviews aren't very good, with a lot of complaints about
tedious, repetitive combat and awful story. It looks pretty
but seems overall to be a mediocre game.
* Wizard with a Gun
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1150530/Wizard_with_a_Gun/ This game involves a wizard with a gun (I hope I'm not
spoiling things too much). It looks like an isometric
action/adventure shooter; reports are that the devs no longer
are around to support the game and it's very grindy overall.
Meh.
* Neo Cab
https://store.steampowered.com/app/794540/Neo_Cab/ A visual novel where you take on the role of the last taxi
cab driver in a world overrun by automation. If only I liked
visual novels...
* Everafter Falls
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1416960/Everafter_Falls/ Another Stardew Valley clone, this one with some sort
of deck-building progression system. Nope.
* Blanc
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1982340/Blanc/ Visually the game certainly stands out; it uses a
monochrome ink-and-pen styled cartoon graphics to tell its
story. The gameplay --a very saccharine-looking tale of a
fawn and wolf cub working to survive in the wintry
wilderness-- seems a cross between a walking sim and a
puzzler like "Two Brothers" (or "Lost Vikings") where you
have to utilize the talents of both characters to get past
obstacles. The reviews are good but the game might be too
cutesy for my taste.

That's this month's eight. I dunno; even though "Rogue Trader" was a
game on my wishlist, I'm not sure its inclusion is enough to justify
the raised price of the HumbleChoice bundle, especially since none of
the rest of the games excite me very much. Well, I've a month to
decide. It is hard to give up seeing The Number go up by eight,
though.
Either way, I'll still post about the new games next month.
