Need accounts for both Lenovo's web site AND Gamesplanet beside Steam.
Yeah, not my type of game and too much work for it. Pass for me! I'm
pretty sure I played its free weekend too and wasn't impressed.
I think the appeal of the game to many is twofold:
1) there's that "My actions are affecting the gameworld"
thing we mentioned in an earlier thread, where you
actively change the level geometry by cutting the grass.
It's neat to see the map change from something covered in
tall grass down to a neatly mowed lawn.
2) Like the "Truck Driving Sims", the quiet mundanity of the
job is relaxing. Unlike the reality, where you're being
blasted by the sound of overly loud motors or poisoned by
the combustion fumes from two-strike engines, cutting the
grass in the game is quite calming. It can be quite Zenlike.
The actual gameplay --going from job to job, building up your mowing
empire-- isn't the real attraction, I think. It's the quiet
satisfaction of doing a short task as best you can, without getting
too stressed by it (as you might in real life) that makes these sort
of games appealing.
Not everybody is into that. But some are. Myself, I sort of liked
"Lawn Mowing Simulator" but since I already get the same experience
from my truck-sims, I didn't stick with it very long.
[Certainly I'd never jump through all the hoops to get it
now. Having to sign up to TWO separate services is just
ridiculous]
But if I weren't already a truck-sim fanatic, I might have become a
mowing nutcase instead ;-)
