Good god, it's Thursday again. Wasn't it just Thursday last week? I
sense some sort of conspiracy; perhaps a cabal of timekeepers working
to make the days repeat ad infinitum in a seven day cycle.
Oh well, at least it means we get another free game.
* Freshly Frosted
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/freshly-frosted-c636d0 There was some concern last week that there wouldn't BE a
free game this week, then suddenly this game appeared. And
not to dismiss "Freshly Frosted", but it does seem very much
a last minute addition; a simplistic Indie logic/puzzle game
that's one part "Sokoban" and one part "Factorio". It's
every bit that sort of game you play on your phone
because its free.
* Rumble Club
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/rumble-club-rumble-club-free-game-of-the-week-bonus-fe7b22 But bad as "Frosted" is, "Rumble Club" is a worse addition,
as it's already a free-to-play title. Technically, what
you're getting is free MTX coins to spend on cosmetics.
But it's really scraping the bottom of the barrel
for Epic.
So, not an impressive week for Epic when it comes to their free game
offerings. Maybe rumors are true and Epic is thinking about killing
the program (or maybe they have reduced the budget for it to the point
that stuff like this is the best they can get?). Well, we'll see next
week if the trend continues or if we actually get something worth
playing this time.
