Are 'we' too negative?

So first up is 'we' in this context refers to gamers in general and not this group. So with that out of the way, this comes from Spall's 'Favourite Era of Gaming' thread and something I watched (don't worry about the video as most of it is irrelevant). Something that was talked about was is the current gaming industry really that bad or is our perception of games skewed by information available to us.
To me it certainly seems plausible that the content produced on the likes of social media does have that effect to some extent. So Star Wars: Outlaws. My YouTube feed to littered with reviews saying just how bad it is. Now is that because it's really is that bad or because that gets more clicks than a more balanced ok but flawed review. Now obviously it could just be it is bad but I have seem more than one content creator bemoan the fact that they basically feel forced to give their videos more dramatic titles/content to get them noticed and negativity is a good way of doing that.
Then you have the algorithms themselves that really aren't interested in giving you a balanced view but instead content it thinks will help re-enforce your current view and your likely to click on, it's all about engagement.
So overall I think there quite possibly is something in it but I will of course add that I think group isn't overall negative but instead a spread of views across a wider spectrum. It's kinda the reason I like it although a bit of 'drama' now and again has it's place!
So any thoughts - Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
