Steam and GoG also although it's possible that I do have some other accounts that I've forgotten about. The last game I bought that had its own client was I think Battlefield 1 as it was dirt cheap on Steam. The good thing was it meant I could finally get to use the refund option!

Basically if a game isn't on Steam or GoG I just won't get it even as a freebie.
"The Amazon Effect". Getting spoiled by one-stop shopping.
That's definitely a part of it. The nice thing about Amazon is they are probably going to have what you want at decent price and you know up front if anything goes wrong it's fairly hassle free.
Saying that I do try and avoid them if I can so for books/CDs/DVDs I go to World of Books and for a lot of other stuff I use a shop called Argos*. That in many ways is a relic of the old days when someone took the idea of buying things from a catalogue at home and said maybe we can have a physical store with the twist that all the goods are stored in a warehouse which is part of the store. So walk in, place your order and give it to a cashier. Wait maybe five minutes and hey presto you have your item. Of course it has moved with the times so now they have an online presence and in-shop it's all touch screen terminals for placing your order - so no longer a source of free pens.
*The catalogue has basically become iconic in the UK and for those of the right age is know as the laminated books of dreams.
