For books it's really good value as you can get a hardback in very good condition for probably an average of £5 if that.On 28/09/2024 17:50, Dimensional Traveler wrote:Understandable but not really an option in the US. The last remaining book seller competition to Amazon here is Barnes & Noble and they are a shadow of what they used to be. Walmart and to other stores that used to sell optical discs have all stopped because of streaming, though that's not really Amazon's doing. All the rights holding studios are responsible for the destruction of the disc market, trying to kill the at home viewing on disc for streaming by preventing consumers from actually owning a copy. Even RedBox is kaput, folded up and went bankrupt shortly after Netflix shut down their disc by mail rental arm.>Steam and GoG also although it's possible that I do have some other accounts that I've forgotten about. The last game I bought that had its own client was I think Battlefield 1 as it was dirt cheap on Steam. The good thing was it meant I could finally get to use the refund option!>

Basically if a game isn't on Steam or GoG I just won't get it even as a freebie.
"The Amazon Effect". Getting spoiled by one-stop shopping.
That's definitely a part of it. The nice thing about Amazon is they are probably going to have what you want at decent price and you know up front if anything goes wrong it's fairly hassle free.
