Well one I find even more annoying is those from the US that seem to think this US Constitution applies to all countries. The clue is in the name!

The 800 pound gorilla doesn't have to be polite. :P But the same attitude exists in all large countries. I'm not disagreeing with you, just noting.

I'm not saying that they don't exist in other countries but instead compared to its peers the US seems head-and-shoulders in this respect. It probably doesn't help that a lot of my experience comes from being in Dallas where it seems to be mandatory to have really strong views on the UK while being totally ignorant of the UK.

Texas is notably xenophobic even for the US.
The other part I found strange is just how visible religion is. We used to go to a little Brazilian cafe for breakfast and turning up on Sunday, jam packed with people many of which did that whole holding hands and praying before eating. Your good didn't make that food, the people in the kitchen did so go and thank them!
I know Europeans think all Americans are gun nuts (we're not, some of us don't feel the need to be carrying around a gun all the time or have an armory in our homes) but Americans KNOW many Texans ARE gun nuts. I traveled around the US when I was younger and Texas is the only place I saw where a family-friendly restaurant had to have a sign outside the front door asking patrons to leave their guns in their cars.
