Once a year (at least) I go through my collection of old PCs (and
other devices), fire them up, make sure they're still running, update

make sure my collection of obsolete junk isn't actually, irredeemably
junk. It's time consuming and repetitive but (for certain types of
strange personalities, at least) fun work.
I've got some old tech. devices but not a single old PC. I think part of that is I was rather late to the PC, I think my first one was about 1996 or something, and I just don't have the sense of nostalgia for things like DOS. The other part is that around 2000 was the last time that I actual bought a complete PC and now I just give it a refresh when I think it's needed which has become less and less as the games I play are far less demanding on even 'under performing' hardware than they used to be.
I've got a stash a motherboards/CPU's/RAM from previous builds and I really don't know why I still keep them. Much the same as the various cables that I've accumulated over the years - who knows when a SCART cable may come in handy!
