It just occured to me that we haven't done a CRAP (Completely Random &
Pointless) Poll this month. Of course, that makes us wonder: do we
actually /need/ a new CRAP Poll every month? What if I were to run an
/old/ CRAP Poll? Or just none whatsoever? And, seeing as we are just a
few days from the start of a new month, is it too late to do one now
and should I just wait a week? Or maybe I should stop rambling and
just get to the CRAP Poll finally? Questions, questions, questions!

Congratulations! You own a computer and are just about to play a game.
You've got the PC, the monitor, the mouse, the keyboard... but do you
have speakers? More to the point of this poll, what SORT of speakers?

1) A custom, high-end, room-filling, Dolby Surround
Sound system. With more speakers around me than most
people have fingers. Probably with $1000 gold-wire
cabling too. Only the best for my ears!

2) A good set of 7.1 or 5.1 speakers.

3) Your usual 2-speaker system, maybe not the best
but still sounding good

4) The cheapest 2-speaker system you can plug into a
3.5" jack

5) The sound comes from my TV

9) I'm still using that tiny 1-bit piezo-electric beeper
on my motherboard
10) I output the sound to a graph and interpret the
audio visually. ;-)

if I do - only my neighbors could tell you.

Over the years it has varied from headphones to cheapass 2 speakers, to
a 5.1 surround system, which I still sort of have except bastardized
since the old stereo I use to listen to the radio on lost a speaker
channel, so now the headphone jack is connected to the input, through a
couple of the original 5.1 satellite speakers, while mp3s/gaming sounds
are routed through the speakers from that shelf stereo 4watt/3ohm
jobbies, but better sounding than purpose built computer speakers.
The new computer just has one of those soundbars.
So I have a soundbar dead in front of me under the hutch (which is the
top cover of an old desktop 286, with 2 speakers on the sides of said
hutch that the radio plays through, and the shelf stereo speakers on
either side of me at the edges of the desk for music playback when I
fire up the mp3s.
The hutch is a, to raise the monitor to a more comfortable viewing
position and b has storage space under it, maximizing the utility of the
desk.
The surround sound system I bought was logitech, and I think getting on
for 15-20 years old now.
Originally it was truly surround sound, since I had 2 speakers in front
of me, and 2 duct taped to the top of the executive type office chair I
used to use (base broke so not usable now.)
Frankly in games, I do not miss the surround at all, it really makes no
difference.
TV/movies I watch with headphones, since I live in an apt and sometime
need to have the volume up in order to hear dialog and don't wish to
disturb the neighbors.
