I remember also that the first game had a very large inventory so you
ended up with enough guns for a small army (well, at least a few
platoons). But eventually the game would say sorry, your inventory is
full. And then you'd dump all the guns at a store and have money and
nothing much to spend it on... I think they cut that whole inventory
thing in the sequels? You just had a generic gun in different flavors.
That inventory system was really something too; designed for consoles,
it was just a pain to use. Unfortunately, Bioware took all the
complaints about the inventory and loot and decided, rather than
improve it, they'd just wipe it all out in the sequels. Bad as it was
in the first Mass Effect, at least there was some semblance of
inventory and loot. It's why the game remains my favorite of the
series, despite all its rough edges. The later games pretty much
abandoned the CRPG genre to become cover-shooters with dialogue
systems. Fun, but not my preferred type of game.
