I think Steam downloaded and installed it. How do I play it? I am
afraid to select New Game or Continue. I saved my last save game
file.

Did I have to finish the game in order to play this explansion or
whatever it is?

Apparently the expansion is neatly slotted into the main campaign, so
if you're in the middle of the game you can do it whenever.

To access the DLC content, start by defeating Starscourge Radahn, and
Mogh, Lord of Blood. More details can be found here:

Not having played the game, it all sounds rather arcane, but I'm sure
it will make sense to you.

Thanks Spalls! I am pretty sure I did defeat those bosses. No way I
am going to try to finish the game. I have lost my "touch" and
patience and forgotten too much to want to go back to it but I do want
to check out this expansion though.
But not as much to be able to progress to be able to play this
expansion/dlc. Only one save game file. I am going to p;ass!
Mogh's a bit hidden, but IIRC you were following a guide so should've ended up there, especially as that area has the birds/frog people for farming for souls. He's pretty late game, and personally I found him harder than most of the end game bosses.
I think it's suggested you be at least level 120 and have a fully upgraded weapon (+25 normal or +10 somber.)
I've still got a ways to go on my new character, which I'm feeling kind of meh about, though I'm destroying everything without much difficulty (certain dungeon I'm in is giving me trouble because you drop down into a mob of I think 5 imps that tear you up and there's a nasty revenant later. Hardest thing I've fought so far is the NPC invader in the starting area!) Also I've been doing surprisingly well against real people invaders.
Unfortunately they hit my favorite character/weapon I finished the game with with a big nerf yesterday, strength/faith with blasphemous blade - it no longer knocks enemies down, and does a lot less stagger. Also a big nerf on several of my favorite ashes, glintblade phalanx & moonveil - reduced stagger a lot on those too, on Int which is the other character I finished the game with.
My current character seems to have escaped the nerfs at least. Dex using epee with impaling thrust, and I've got some other weapons, bolt of gransax, a lightning weapon which is much less impressive than I've been lead to believe - it's a great sniper, but pretty crap in close range, except backstabs which it's pretty good at. Ice spear on guardian spear which is a good mid ranged attack with decent stagger and frost. I had been using storm assault for that which is faster and works better in close range, but it's better on a quality build.
There were a bunch of other nerfs, so I don't know if what you were using will work well anymore. I'd have to look up and see if you mentioned what you were using in old threads.
I'm going try real hard when I get to the DLC to go in blind. I know that never lasts long, but I feel like I'm good enough now to have a chance.
