Dear Publishers,

Can we /please/ stop with the "this game uses automatic savepoints and
this icon will flash on your screen when it happens, press button to
continue" message at the start of every game?

WE KNOW.

So, apparently I wasn't the only one bugged by this (either that, or
somebody at RPS reads Usenet and was inspired by my post. Wouldn't
that be cool? ;-). Anyway, there's an article where the author made a
(fairly unscientific) test of what happens if you ignore these
warnings and just turn off your console or computer while it is
purportedly saving. Conclusion? Nothing bad happens.

Which just reaffirms my original thesis; these warnings are
unnecessary. Stop taking up my time with this nonsense, developers!

* read the article here:

If you're /really/ unlucky, I'm sure some data corruption could happen.
