Because America has spent most of the last century imprinting its culture on anyone it can! 🙂
Tell me about it. In the UK TV has been mostly spared*, film and TV not so much. Music I find one of the worst offenders as it just feels like it's dominated by artists (what happened to actual bands) who've been packaged up and then marketed to make them a success.
*Not that you'd know it sometimes with Friends being a prime example. You'd think it was one of the most popular shows with the media exposure it got but as someone once pointed out Rab C. Nesbitt a comedy on BBC2 (the more niche channel) about an alcoholic Glaswegian aired later in the evening used to get higher viewer figures.
