I've never heard of it, and it doesn't seem to be on steam. What's the
game like?

From what I recall, it was sort of a cross betwen "XCOM: UFO Defense"
(for its turn-based tactical combat) and "Alien Breed" (for its
visuals, style, and slightly more action-oriented gameplay), mixed
with a hefty dose of Slavjank.
I remember that shooting the enemies would result in them exploding in
a huge burst of blood of gibs. That was pretty much the most memorable
thing about the game.
I must have gotten further in it than you. There started appearing
bigger enemies that could only be wounded from the rear. At its root it
was a puzzle game like said on wikipedia.org, but a puzzle game with a
small amount of wiggle room based on how well you have done thus far -
everything carries over to the next map. I guess what I liked about it
was how challenging it was, and the visuals you mentioned.
I honestly can't say. I remember I played it. I don't remember if I
finished it. Looking at it now, I can imagine it was a game that got
short shrift from me but, then again, I used to be a lot less picky
with what games I played. I endured a lot of early 2000s Slavjank ;-)
But honestly, I got Incubation mixed up with Odium mixed up with
UFO:Aftershock mixed up with probably a dozen other similar games
released in that era. None of them really left a favorable impression.
