Automotive software is possibly some of the shittiest around. The only
consideration put into its security is when it comes to preventing
end-users (and non-authorized mechanics!) from making repairs. THEN
you'll have to use official tools to read the encrypted data from the
onboard computers.
But doing anything to keep the car from getting stolen? Why would they
want that? If somebody takes your car, you'll have to buy a new one!
