I'd probably pay $20 for this by itself, as I'm not sure enough. If it
were on GoG I'd pay up to $30 as my son could play it (not sure I want
him to though) without interfering with my steam login (I still need to
try setting him up again now that that isn't supposed to happen unless
you're playing the same game.)

Unrelated to the topic-at-large, but doesn't Steam have a
family-sharing thing now? The way I understand it is that you'd set up
the kids with their own Steam account, and then give them access to
download and play specific games on your main account.

I don't how well it works (or really anything else other than it
exists) but it seems like that would be cheaper than buying a second
copy for the kiddies.

So while August's games aren't making me leap with joy, neither are
they making me abandon my favorite-day theory. I just hope next month
it'll be a bit more favoriter, if you know what I mean.

So looks like about a $25 value to me, though realistically it'd have to
be less as I'm trying not to buy games when I'm already playing one, as
they tend to get forgotten about that way.

If I understand correctly it's $12 for the games but you have to cancel
if you don't want to automatically get the next month's games.   Very
tempting, but I don't like that payment model.

$12USD for the selection of games, cancel any time, but you can also
put the subscription on pause for a month ("Skip a month") if the
games aren't to your liking. As far as I'm aware, there's no limit to
how many times you can pause, although you'll have to authorize the
skip anew each month. The games are available on the first of each
month, but AFAIK they don't actually CHARGE you until several weeks
later, so you have some time to make a decision.

There's also nothing stopping you from buying the games one month,
cancelling the service immediately afterwards, and then starting
afresh two or nine or twenty months down the line. There's really no
advantage to not cancelling, except the convenience. (there are some
minor benefits but they aren't really worth much)

(Sorry if I come off like a marketing drone for the thing. I'm
definitely a satisfied customer and I think overall HumbleChoice is a
great bargain, but I get it's not to everybody's liking. The games are
often a very mixed bag, often with only one or two I'm actually
interested in, and even those tend to be high-average at best. Still,
the prices are great and I appreciate the diversity they add to my
video-gaming diet. But others might be less frivilous with their
cash... or what they add to their gaming library. I won't judge them
on that. (Although The Number might ;-)
