So I finally got around to ripping all my CD's to play them in the new
car and it's either slow and some of them won't even be recognised. My
thought was I know I'll use a torrent site but my old go to (Pirate Bay)
now seems to just be a target for ad hackers. So any recommendations of
what to use?

Music pirate's rule number 1: Don't talk about Usenet.  ;-)

(although I honestly don't know: is Usenet still a haven for those
sorts of binaries? I can't imagine it still is. Why use such a slow,
fragile, overly complicated to use and forgotten platform when there
are so many better ways of distribution?
Um, maybe because it's the one method of distribution the authorities
won't be looking at, for exactly those reasons.
I have no idea is usenet even carries that stuff anymore since I have
not had access to binary groups in over a decade.
So from what I've been reading elsewhere, Usenet is booming for sailing the high seas, There's nearly a petabyte of binary posts added each year.
I've not a good idea of how to access it exactly, but I'm pretty sure you need a provider that allows binary downloads for $$$, either monthly with caps or expiring blocks.  From what I can see for AAA new games that are around 100gb you'd likely be paying $10-30 just to download one, doesn't seem worth it for that.
Music and movies and shows perhaps.
There's also apparently an insane amount of takedown notices to those providers, so someone(s) well aware of usenet piracy and fighting it. Most newer things don't last more than a week.
It seems to be complicated, you need the provider, an indexer (which seems to be the hard part to find) to tell you which messages to download, and of course a 'newsreader' that handles the newfangled binaries and indexing.
Then there's the fact most of it is posted from people in Russia, which could be heavily infected.
